Unkaka Bonga

November 11 2007

I’m completely and utterly fried, and I don’t mind admitting it.

The stuff at home will work itself out and we’ll all be there at the end, Mum, Dad, me and my Daniel will all be there ready to take on the next thing that comes along. It’s not really that that drains me, it’s the fact that all the things that are happening are happening at once.

Work continues to contain a high amount of suck-ability. The job is good in and of itself and most of the time the crap that comes along you can deal with, but I seem to have lost that ability. I’m incredibly happy to be doing what I am doing and have the friends that I have but they are all in the process of moving on and I will really really really miss them.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer DVD’s have been replaced by Long Way Round with Ewan McGreggor and Charley Boorman. It’s addictive stuff and even though I’ve seen the round-the-world trip umpteen times I am always up for watching it one more time. Travel documentaries grab me, especially this one. They are a record of man’s testament to making life difficult for himself. They also have a habit of making me incredibly itchy.

They make me want to pack up my stuff, grab the MP3 player and head off to visit friends who live in other more interesting places like California or Canada. That’s probably why I enjoy making the videos that I make, and why I give them so much of the location – it’s a sense of the self at a particular time and place. The South Bay video diaries are done to give glimpses of Old Trafford for those not lucky enough to go as much as I do. They also provide a picture of me and those people and places that are important to me.

I’ll film anything, everything, any trips or events and I love doing them for all the reasons I have given.

Maybe next year I make solid plans to make some more events that can be captured, and maybe me and everyone around me can make next year better than this one.

Peace and travel!
